Ruth

Daily Devotional from Ruth 4--

Verses 9-10
Then Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses this day that I have bought from the hand of Naomi all that belonged to Elimelech and all that belonged to Chilion and to Mahlon. Also Ruth the Moabite, the widow of Mahlon, I have bought to be my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his native place. You are witnesses this day.”

Boaz and his redemption of Naomi was a type (a foreshadower) of Jesus Christ and his provision of salvation to the Gentiles.

Boaz paid a price to become Naomi’s redeemer. Jesus paid a price to become Redeemer of the World.

A foreigner, Ruth became Boaz’s bride. The gentile church became Jesus’s bride.

Isn’t it great how the Old and New Testaments complement each other? They are two strands of truth that weave together to make a strong cord supporting our faith!
