Jeremiah 39-40
Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 39--
Verse 12
Take him, look after him well, and do him no harm.
Talk about bittersweet. Nebuchadnezzar just plundered Jeremiah’s homeland, devastating everything he’s ever known. And he could’ve made it much worse for the old prophet, but, instead, ensures that Jeremiah would be well cared for. Things were bad, but not as bad as they could’ve been if it weren’t for this mercy.
As we can see in Jeremiah’s situation, the Lord’s not going to always spare us from life’s bitter cup. But in the experiencing of hardship, he often sweetens our cup with a drop of honey. I find it merciful, that if we must suffer, the Lord’s going to find a way to help us handle it. He’s good that way, you know.
