Acts 12
Daily Devotional from Acts 12--
Verses 5-12 (selected)
So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church. When Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I am sure that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.” When he realized this, he went to the house of Mary…where many were gathered together and were praying.
Peter was rescued from prison by the angel despite soldiers and chains at both hands, sentries guarding him and gates meant to keep him there. The church was praying for him and he found them still doing so. He was met with joy and amazement.
Let us be found in “earnest prayer” for our fellow believers in whatever their circumstances. Perhaps they are in bondage to some difficult situation, habit or illness. Let us lift them up in fervent prayer for their provision, deliverance and healing by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord always has the victory against the enemy. May we all experience joy and amazement at the goodness of God as He answers our prayers in His infinite faithfulness!
