1 Thessalonians 2
Daily Devotional from 1 Thessalonians 2--
Verse 13
And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
Paul was making his appeal of his trustworthiness and thanking God for the Thessalonians in this letter. I love how in this chapter, he details his conduct with and his love for the church in Thessalonica.
It is so important that we respectfully and lovingly conduct ourselves with everyone around us—especially those that do not know Jesus. It’s easy to not like those who believe differently than us, but we are taught to love them, and love them deeply. Paul’s words to the Thessalonians are steeped in his deep love for them. This love will help us to conduct ourselves in an honest and respectful manner.
So today, if you find yourself disliking a co-worker, a grocery clerk, or a family member—ask the Holy Spirit to give you the love that Paul had for the Thessalonians.
