Ezekiel 25-26

Daily Devotional from Ezekiel 25—

Verse 3
Say to the Ammonites, ‘Hear the word of the Lord God: This is what the Lord God says: Because you said, “Aha!” about my sanctuary when it was desecrated, about the land of Israel when it was laid waste, and about the house of Judah when they went into exile...’

Israel failed in their relationship with God. They followed other gods, they didn't follow the law--and they were sent into exile. They were no longer in possession of the land that God had promised. The judgment of God came over them--which was deserved.

Yet, God still cared about Israel--enough to bring judgment on those who laughed at their misfortune and took advantage of their plight. God had words for the surrounding nations that mocked and took advantage of Israel's judgment.

When someone we are frustrated with comes into misfortune or hardship, how do we feel? Are we pleased? Happy?

God cares about how we react when someone goes through hardship or discipline, because everyone is made in his image and is in need of grace and mercy.
