Luke 13
Daily Devotional from Luke 13--
Verses 2-3
And [Jesus] responded to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered these things? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.”
It can be easy to look at others’ choices, lifestyle, and situation and think that they deserve what they get. They are just dealing with the consequences of their sin, right?
Jesus makes it very clear here that every single person has things which need to be repented of. And repentance doesn’t mean feeling sorry for what we’ve done, but it is the action of turning around, facing away from what you are repenting of and turning toward God. Because if we don’t, it will lead to our downfall.
Jesus wants us to show compassion and mercy to those who are suffering because we know what it is to be facing away from God.
Is there something in your heart that you have yet to repent of? Turn away from it today and face Jesus instead. This will lead to your flourishing and a deeper appreciation and love for others around you. You won’t regret it.
