Genesis 43
Daily Devotional from Genesis 43—
Verses 13-14
“Take your brother also, and arise, go back to the man. And may God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved, I am bereaved!"
Israel lost his beloved Rachel. He lost Joseph whom he had really treasured. And now he was faced with losing Benjamin, his youngest. What will he do?
He had two choices; risk losing Benjamin or watch his family succumb to the famine. Neither option was very good. But Israel made the right choice. He chose to put his hope in the mercy of God. And God came through! Benjamin was restored to him AND he was reunited with Joseph. Read what God did for Israel in Isaiah 61:3 - To console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." NKJV
And God’s promise fulfilled in Israel is offered to us today. Let’s let God do what He does best.
