Leviticus 2
Daily Devotional from Leviticus 2--
Verse 3
But the rest of the grain offering will belong to Aaron and his sons; it is the holiest part of the fire offerings to the LORD.
The grain offering was one of thanksgiving and provision. They were an act of Thanksgiving for the offeror and functioned as provision for the priests who were set apart and (ultimately) didn’t have land for themselves to cultivate. Their job was to cultivate the hearts of the Israelites.
Through tithes and offerings, the LORD provided for the Levites (the “pastors” of Israel). When someone is set apart by the LORD to do vocational ministry (Church or Missions), they often have to forgo typical jobs in order to walk in obedience. And as the people of God, we want to honor that call and work to encourage that obedience and come alongside and provide for their needs.
Walking in obedience is not an easy road. But many hands make work light.
