Genesis 2
Daily Devotional from Genesis 2--
Verse 18
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Verse 21
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
God created man and woman (couples) because it is not good for a person to be alone. People are created to love and be loved in return. Couples can create new life (with God’s help). Couples complement (complete) each other - one is stronger where the other is weak. They share the good and bad times together and dispel loneliness.
But at some time in our lives, we will be alone - single and never married or married and divorced or widowed. It is not the best situation, but it may be God’s will for this time in our lives.
During this period, do what you believe God is asking you to do (seek a partner or not), but don’t isolate yourself. Be active in your church, make friends. Be involved in helping others. And always remember You are never alone (read Psalm 139:7-10!)
