Exodus 6

Daily Devotional from Exodus 6—

Verses 6-9
Say therefore to the people of Israel, 'I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the Lord.' Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit...

Moses had a message from God, who had spoken to him in the desert with amazing clarity. Look at the promises God made to Moses for the Israelites. Seven times he said “I will,” and as we know, He did everything he committed to. But the Israelites didn’t believe Moses. They didn’t even listen to him as he shared this important message from God. They were so blinded by their circumstances, they couldn’t see the truth.

We can do the same. We can let our circumstances cloud our vision of God and disbelieve His promises. But isn’t it better to believe what He says and trust Him to keep His word to us, just like He did for the unbelieving Israelites? He always has and He always will keep His promises to us. Let’s count on it.
