Genesis 19
Daily Devotional from Genesis 19--
Verse 26
But Lot's wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
I could see this happening so easily in America. Judgement is on the way and Lot’s family is dithering and delaying. The sons-in-law thought it was a joke (verse 14), Lot was dragging his feet (verse 16), and now we see Lot’s wife casting her eye back to what used to be. It’s like they all were too comfortable. And if there’s any reason to be comfortable, we have it in America.
We have all the modern conveniences and luxuries any era has ever offered. But what if we were put on notice, how would we handle that? Could we leave it all behind at a moment’s notice? This is a question to ask ourselves today. How married are we to our stuff, our house, our city? Could we drop it all if we were asked to? I think it’s a valid question for all of us to ponder.
