Genesis 48
Daily Devotional from Genesis 48--
Verse 11
And Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face; and behold, God has let me see your offspring also.”
Sometimes, things or people we love are taken from us. Joseph, his favorite son, firstborn of his favorite wife, was taken from Israel. Israel grieved the loss, which was great, but went on with life and continued to trust and follow God.
It's important to hold the things we love loosely – so that if they are taken from us, we can continue to trust that God still loves us and is with us. We can trust that he has a plan, he knows the Big Picture.
And if we continue to trust and follow him, sometimes, he brings back to us that which was taken or lost, and sometimes, just sometimes, he even multiplies what he gives back to us! Hold things loosely. Cling primarily to God. He is the only eternal thing.
