Exodus 15

Daily Devotional Exodus 15--

Verses 23-25
When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.

This story is a little comical. How silly to see the very sea split before them and walk across dry land, and then to see some inconvenience and look only at the present trouble. I know I can do this and I think it is pretty normal to only see our current situation. But when we get stuck doing this we miss the big picture. God is provider and He makes it clear over and over again through Scripture.

When things get a little tough our natural response is to grumble or to be discouraged. However, if we are spending time with God in His Word and in prayer we will be continually reminded of God’s provision and in turn this will help us lean into God when we see our need instead of grumbling with our heads down.

The Lord will provide! Just look at how he does it in this passage! Nothing is too hard for God; he has all the means and all the power to provide a way through whatever situation you find yourself in.
