Genesis 17
Daily Devotional from Genesis 17--
Verse 1
When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless…"
“Be blameless,” said God Almighty to Abram.
Blameless is defined by Strong’s Concordance as without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely (-ity), sound, without spot, undefiled, upright (-ly), whole.
Did Abram succeed as God had instructed? Not really, and yet Jesus would say of Abraham (same person, new name) in John 8:39-40 - They answered him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would be doing what Abraham did, but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.”
So if Abram did not walk blameless before the Almighty God, what was his deed that Jesus spoke of? Abram “Believed” and had great “Faith” in the words of The Almighty God. Today, let’s walk in the same path, believing and having great faith in the Almighty God who loves us.
