Genesis 50

Daily Devotional from Genesis 50--

Verse 20
“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”

Joseph is one of my favorite people in the Bible. Why? Because he didn’t let it get to him. Have you noticed, that throughout his life, the people around him all seemed to have it out for him? His brothers, Potiphar’s wife, Pharaoh’s servants – people just kept wronging him left and right for no reason! Joseph had more reason than many to be bitter, vengeful, angry…and yet he was not. He had a sweet spirit, he forgave, he trusted God’s plan, and whatever he did, he did as in service to God.

He didn’t let it get to him. Like water off a duck’s back, he let those injustices just roll off. We have a choice in how we respond to those who hurt us. We can let it make us bitter, or BETTER. If we trust that vengeance is God’s to decide and dole out, we can forgive, live in love, be better, and be blessed. Because holding onto unforgiveness is like swallowing poison and expecting it to kill the other person!
