Matthew 3
Daily Devotional from Matthew 3—
Verses 5-6
Then Jerusalem and all Judea and all the region about the Jordan were going out to him, and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
Water baptism is one of the most exciting parts of the believer’s walk with God. I still get all teary-eyed every time I see someone get baptized! It’s our chance to take a public stand for our faith and say ‘I’m following Jesus!’ – and then, the Holy Spirit does this amazing surgery on our hearts, He cuts out the old, stony, sin-bent heart and gives a new, soft heart bent towards our heavenly Father.
If you have not been water baptized, maybe that’s the next step your Father is waiting for you to take on your faith journey. Talk to someone about it.
If you have been baptized, take a moment to remember the thrill of coming up out of that water, knowing you were a new creation in Christ, and stand on the work God did in your heart that day, and choose to walk every day in the newness He made for you!
Much like Scrooge learned to honor Christmas in his heart every day, let’s all honor Jesus in our hearts and lives every day!
