Matthew 15
Daily Devotional from Matthew 15--
Verse 27
Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the master’s table.
This has to be the greatest comeback line in all the Bible. This Canaanite woman was on her game, wasn’t she? She gets ignored, scorned, slighted, overlooked, and then downright insulted. And yet she still fires back the sharpest response ever. Essentially saying, “I’m here, and I’m not going to be denied!” Jesus just stands back, and, in awe, commends the outsider for her daring faith. And the woman left that day the recipient of a miracle. She came to do business with Jesus. And no amount of scrutiny was about to dissuade her.
O Lord, grant to us the same boldness as we persist in prayer.
