Matthew 20
Daily Devotional from Matthew 20--
Verse 15
Do you begrudge my generosity?
When somebody else – less deserving – gets blessed just as much as you, it’s a bit distasteful.
We cry, “That’s not fair!”
And you’re right. It’s not. And praise God it isn’t. Because if it was, we’d all be punished for eternity. Lost and without hope. That’s fair. So, we don’t want fair. We want grace.
So, next time you’re tempted to begrudge His kindness, stop right then and there, and remember that, even at your best, you have not earned a shred of grace.
Grace is a scandalous business. But if we want to be about His business, we may as well get used to it. It’s the way He operates.
