John 6
Daily Devotional from John 6—
Verse 26
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves.”
The people in the crowd were desperately chasing after Jesus, but it was because of what He did, and not who He is. All of His metaphors they took literally and thus turned away from Him quickly—after crossing the sea to see Him!
Let’s remember today that we seek Jesus not for what He can provide for us, but for who He is—God with us, the Savior of the World, the Son of God. When we chase after Jesus only for what He can do, we will turn away when things don’t happen the way we want. But when we chase after Jesus for who He is, we will find the deepest relationship on earth—someone who sets us free, who guides us, and who sits with us in our darkest places.
Today, let’s remember to seek WHO Jesus is more than WHAT He can do for us.
