Acts 27

Daily Devotional from Acts 27--

Verse 20
When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope of our being saved was at last abandoned.

Paul and his traveling companions had been tossed about by stormy weather and monster waves for so long they had given up hope. They were beaten down by unrelenting, hope-draining circumstances.

The sailors lost faith in their ship holding up against foul weather, so lost their hope of being saved.

But Paul was different. He had Biblical hope.

Biblical hope is confident expectation that something good is going to happen. It is not wishful thinking. It is based on faith. (Hebrews 11:1)

Paul had hope because of faith in what God revealed to him - that the ship would be destroyed, but no life would be lost.

So our hope should not depend on circumstances, but on our all-powerful God’s promises to us. Check out the Bible and make a list of all of them, and never give up hope. He is faithful!
