1 Corinthians 8
Daily Devotional from 1 Corinthians 8--
Verse 1
Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that “all of us possess knowledge.” This “knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.
We all have our ideas about what is right and what is wrong. Some of these ideas come from conscience, some from what we were taught, some from our personal interpretation of the Scriptures.
But just as important as it is to be right in our beliefs is to be loving toward others who believe differently from us.
We must not be “puffed up” in our attitudes toward others when their beliefs do not align with ours. In fact we should behave in a way that builds others up. We might even need to adjust our right behaviors in such a way that others are not offended by them, even though it may disadvantage us.
Let us make efforts to show loving actions toward others rather than showing them we are right.
