Galatians 3
Daily Devotional from Galatians 3--
Verse 24
So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.
Paul uses an interesting metaphor to describe the role of the law. Back in the day, a guardian was an esteemed servant who attended the child from his home to school and then back to his home again. He wasn't the teacher, but he conducted safe passage for the student. He had general charge over his pupil until he reached the age of maturity. That describes the role the law had in our life. He took us to the schoolhouse, so that we can learn from our teacher, who is Christ. He was never the teacher, but he was, and still is, our faithful guardian.
