Isaiah 1-3

Daily Devotional from Isaiah 1—

Verse 18
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

The book of Isaiah a big book of prophecy written in a very poetic style. It can be confusing at times. But as we go through it, just keep in mind the main story arc Isaiah follows:

  • He points out how the nation of Israel has continued to sin against God
  • He warns of the coming divine justice (Assyria will destroy Jerusalem and take the Jews captive)
  • But God will save a remnant of his people and restore Israel with a new king
  • Who will bring Peace on earth!
But the new King Isaiah alludes to is JESUS! This book is full of messianic prophecies, as we see in verse 18 above – JESUS is the means by which our sins turn from stained crimson to pure, clean white. He is the Prince of Peace and the restorer of God’s people! Keep an eye out for more foreshadowing about Jesus as we go through this rich book!
