Isaiah 43-44

Daily Devotional from Isaiah 44--

Verse 6
Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.’

In our reading today, we can see God time and time again stating His divinity as the only God, His strength, His justice, and His forgiveness. He calls Israel to repent, but also promises He will forgive them—if they would turn to Him.

More often than not, we want to look to ourselves, others, or objects as we go about life. In doing so, we are putting ourselves, others, or items on a pedestal they do not deserve. It’s not bad to get advice or wisdom from these sources, but our greatest source of purpose should come from worshipping Jesus. He should be the one we look to in every circumstance we find ourselves in, because He is the only one who deserves that place in our lives.

Today, let’s reflect on what we turn to as we go about our daily tasks, and ask the Holy Spirit to show us ways we can depend on Him more.
