Ezekiel 5-6

Daily Devotional from Ezekiel 6—

Verse 8-9a
Yet I will leave some of you alive. When you have among the nations some who escape the sword, and when you are scattered through the countries, then those of you who escape will remember me among the nations where they are carried captive…

Israel had abandoned God to serve false gods. They preferred serving something powerless over putting in the work it took to honor God.

Many of us can relate to this. Sometimes, it’s easier to do what everyone else is doing than to follow God, to live in secret guilt than risk being shamed by repenting, or to lash out in anger at someone rather than showing love. We all are at war with our own sinful nature. Jesus died so that we don’t have to pay the penalty for our sin. He sent His Holy Spirit to help us battle our flesh. It doesn’t mean we won’t make mistakes, but today let’s choose to allow the Holy Spirit to shape our desires.

Pray this with me today: “Holy Spirit, help me to fight this battle against my flesh today. Help me to live a life pleasing to you that shows others the love of Jesus. Amen.”
