Ezekiel 13-14

Daily Devotional from Ezekiel 14--

Verse 6
Therefore, say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Lord God says: Repent and turn away from your idols; turn your faces away from all your detestable things.’

Israel had been in relationship with God for a long time. As a nation, they had seen God do amazing things. They had celebratory feasts to remember all God’s works.

Still, they forgot, and began worshiping other gods. They worshiped gods who had done nothing for them, who offered nothing. We read that and it seems crazy. How could Israel do that?!

But if we reflect on how we spend our time, our money, and our thoughts, we may find that we have some idols of our own. Maybe we’ve made an idol out of our love of our time, maybe an idol of our need for control, maybe we adore and praise a person (family or celebrity).

God says repent and turn our heart back to him. Spend time remembering what Jesus has done for you. Play some worship music and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal idols you have placed in front of our Holy Creator, and turn away from them.
