Leviticus 11-12
Daily Devotional from Leviticus 11--
Verse 44
I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.
This verse says that the Lord wants us to consecrate ourselves. Do you know what that means? It means to declare yourself to be sacred. Another word for sacred is dedicated. Dedicated for a special use. My wedding ring is dedicated. My birth certificate is dedicated. My Joe Montana rookie card is dedicated. They don’t just float around the house. They occupy a special place. And God wants the same for you and me. He doesn’t want us just floating around doing anything with anybody. He wants us to conduct ourselves with great intentionality. We may not be under the same dietary restrictions today as noted here in chapter 11. But we do serve the same God who still expects us to consecrate ourselves. Consider yourselves to be sacred – wholly dedicated, for he is, and remains, the Lord our God.
