Luke 19
Luke 19:41
When Jesus drew near and saw the city, he wept over it.
When’s the last time you wept? To weep is a powerful thing. A full surge of emotions that occurs all at one time. And the force of it can sometimes take you by surprise.
Is it surprising to think that Jesus wept? A full surge of emotions. He looked at Jerusalem and knew the suffering she would endure. I believe he looks at us today, with the suffering in the world – the fear, the pain, and the death caused by COVID-19. And I believe he still weeps. Not that he’s unable to do anything, but that, in his wisdom, he walks with us among the rubble. Sorry that it ever had to happen in the first place.
Take heart, world. He is with us. He knows and he cares.
