The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Have you ever received an overdraft notice? How about an eviction? A foreclosure? A criminal sentence? Actually, you’ve experienced something much worse.
The eternal gavel has been struck. Your doom has been sealed. Your sentence is death. And the guards come to take you away. Yet they seize another man you did not realize was there. They handcuff him and haul him away, and the courtroom quickly files out. Your attorney turns to you and indicates, “that innocent man took your place and paid your penalty. You, my friend, have been exonerated. You are free to go.”
Feel the rush sweep over you. You are FREE. Jesus took your place and paid your penalty. And the moment you believe that, eternal life has just begun.
