1 John 2
1 John 2:1
If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
“I can never go to church. I’m just too big of a sinner. Lord knows, I would be struck down by a bolt of lightning!”
For anybody to think such a thing is clearly not acquainted with this verse. Jesus is not the sinner’s enemy; he is their advocate. He didn’t come for righteous people anyhow; he came for sinners. He loved the worst of the worst. He loved spending time with them. He even died for them on the cross. He didn’t care for people who thought they were good. He preferred the people who knew they weren’t. So, if you’ve been living in sin, he doesn’t stand across from you; he stands by your side. And, if you want it, he will lead you out of fear and condemnation by the undeniable strength of his love for you.
