Numbers 12-13
Daily Devotional from Numbers 13--
Verse 30
But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it."
God promised a national homeland for the children of Israel. As they left Egypt and approached the Promised Land, the Lord told Moses to send men to check out the land of Canaan.
Spies - one from each of the 12 tribes - were selected and sent out. All but one returned with a bad (fearful) report - there were giants in the land! The people are too strong for us!
But Caleb, from tribe of Judah, remembered God’s promise and presented the minority opinion in the verse above - a report not based on fear of giants, but on faith in God.
When we are facing seemingly impossible situations (giants) in our lives, let us not look to our own abilities, but on God’s promises. He makes promises for our benefit and is more than able to keep them.
