2 Kings 18-19
Daily Devotional from 2 Kings 19—
Verse 30
And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.
Most people go through times in life when they feel like they have been uprooted and misplaced, and are unfruitful. This happens to us as individuals, as families, sometimes as whole organizations or even nations. But those times are usually temporary. God created us to grow and bear fruit.
If we keep our eyes on him, continue to keep him as our One God – supreme in our hearts above all else that vies for our attention and passion – then he promises to plant us again. He plants us in good soil, gives his ‘Son’ light and water of the Spirit, and when we follow his ways we grow roots down deep which allows us to then bear fruit. The fruit identifies the plant, and provides beauty, sustenance and joy. If you are reading through the Scriptures this year, you are growing your roots deep – keep going – God will bring the fruit!
