Isaiah 19-21
Daily Devotional from Isaiah19--
Verse 25
…whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.”
Whoa – hold up – what?! Blessed be Egypt and Assyria? Wait a minute, these are the sworn enemies of Israel. Egypt enslaved the Israelites and murdered their babies for 400 years, and Assyria attacked Israel and took several thousand Israelites captive, forever destroying the northern kingdom.
How can God Bless them? Those who raped, beat, and murdered His chosen people? Well, the same way he can bless any of us. We were all born with a heart gone astray from Him. We all have to be called back. We all have to choose to answer that call. And I believe God can redeem ANYONE, including entire nations gone astray. If you don’t see yourself as worthy of God’s grace, then look at yourself through Jesus’ blood, like God does. When we give ourselves to Jesus, our slate is wiped clean and our Father sees us as His pure and undefiled child.
