Jeremiah 29-30

Daily Devotional from Jeremiah 29—

Verse 7
But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place, situation, or circumstance where we’d really rather not be. It might be a city, a job, a school, a community…Sometimes God gives us the ‘go-ahead’ to leave that place and move on. But sometimes, He wants us to stay for a time, for whatever reason. It might be that He wants to do something in our hearts, or maybe He has a job, task or service for us to perform or a person that we will minister to in that place. Sometimes He just asks us to stay put; sometimes He doesn’t offer another way out.

If you are in one of those places right now, take heart and inspiration from this verse, and seek the welfare of those around you. Pray for the place you are in. You might not like it, but you can do something to make it better. Perhaps you are there for just such a time as this!
