Ezekiel 1-2

Daily Devotional from Ezekiel 2--

Verses 1-2

He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.” As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.

Have you ever noticed how powerful spoken words are? We can read words, understand them, and even write them, yet when they are spoken aloud, there's an extra oomph to them. An extra zing. If they are hurtful words, they're extra painful. If they are encouraging words, they are extra special. There is something about them being said audibly that makes them real. 

God is one who speaks. He spoke creation into existence. He speaks and nature obeys! God had something to say to Ezekiel and asked him to listen up. 

God is still speaking, and he is speaking to you. He speaks to you through his word (the Bible), he speaks through his church (us), and he does it all through his Spirit. 

Let the Spirit raise you to your feet today so you can listen to what God is saying. Read the Bible out loud. Listen to it audibly. Ask him to open your ears.
