Ezekiel 21-22
Daily Devotional from Ezekiel 22--
Verse 30
And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.
What does this mean? Well, in ancient times they build walls around their cities for protection from wild animals and attackers. If there was a “breach” or a gap in the wall, then there was a weakness – a way for the enemy to get in.
God continues to look for men and women who will “stand in the gap” today. But it’s not a physical protective barrier they are holding together, rather a spiritual one: we stand in the gap by praying over our cities. We want to be men and women who will repent of the sins of our city – even if we weren’t the ones to commit them – and to pray for the Holy Spirit to dwell here, living and moving among the people.
Let’s stand in the gap today and pray for our city!
