Daniel 7-9
Daily Devotional from Daniel 9--
Verse 18
O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.
I’m so glad that God’s mercy isn’t dependent on us. If it were, none of us would enjoy the freedom we have in Christ today.
Daniel humbly pleads for himself and for the people of Israel. While he was praying, Gabriel came to bring revelation to his visions, and let him know that God heard him and loved him (V. 23). God didn’t need to let Daniel know he was loved and heard, but He did anyway.
Not only is God merciful, but He hears our cries when we call out to Him. Remember that you aren’t speaking into an empty void, but to a loving God who hears and cares for you.
