Hosea 1-3
Daily Devotional from Hosea 2—
Verse 19
And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.
When God really wants to get his point across, he is able! He tells the prophet Hosea to marry a prostitute, and then let her go when she goes running off to other men, and then go and buy her back from them and love her again. This is a very blunt picture of humanity’s faithlessness toward God, and God’s absolute, undying, unfathomable faithfulness to us.
We falter. He expects it. And He has made a way for us to always return to Him – JESUS. He promises it here, in 1 John 1:9 - “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
“ALL” – that means nothing you have done cannot be forgiven and forgotten. Come before Him today. Lay your past at His feet. Receive His love.
