Micah 4-7
Daily devotional from Micah 5--
Verse 2
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
During this Christmas season it is important to remember the real reason for the celebrations, decorations, and gift exchanges that occupy much of our time and focus. Although our modern culture has masked it, we give gifts to emulate the greatest gift that God ever gave to mankind - the gift of His son. God became man to experience as a human being our limitations, our challenges, our temptations - to better serve as our Advocate with the Father - and ultimately give His life to pay the penalty for our sin (1 John 1: 1-2).
In a traditional Christmas carol, we sing:
“Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light.
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.”
Let’s commit to keeping Christ in Christmas!
