Matthew 2

Daily Devotional from Matthew 2--

Verses 1-2

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star at its rising and have come to worship him.”

The wise men in this story were not part of God’s covenant people. They were, though, men who paid attention to God’s word and were ready to go when they recognized God’s movement in the world. 

This reveals to us the importance of knowing God’s word. By getting to know it inside and out, we can more easily recognize God’s movement in the world and become ready to participate! 

We want to be a people who recognize God’s movement in the world, amen?!
