Daily Devotional from Matthew 7--

Verses 13-14

Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

In our lives today, we strive to make things easy for ourselves. We do things that require the least amount of effort. We like convenience and resist any sort of discomfort. 

If you are like me at all, sometimes we do this with our spiritual lives as well. We want an easy way to live life that requires little effort. But what Jesus is saying here is that the difficult road, the narrow path that no one likes to take is what will truly bring life.  

Following Jesus into the narrow, difficult path requires us to give up some comfort, ease, and convenience. We have to develop strength, perseverance, and love for those who move into our space. 

Following Jesus is the only way that leads to true life. Which path will you choose today?
