Luke 3
Daily Devotional from Luke 3--
Verse 18 (NLT)
John used many such warnings as he announced the Good News to the people.
We often see groups of people who like to shout about the end of the world. They love to proclaim that Jesus is coming back soon and some groups like to focus on judgment more than hope.
John the Baptist was no stranger to calling out sin—doing so got him killed eventually. But—John’s ultimate purpose was to prepare the way of the Messiah! He preached repentance—the turning away from sin— because the Messiah was here!
The good news was that Jesus had arrived. The hope that Israel had clung to was about to be realized.
As the body of Christ, we have a similar calling as John. We preach the good news that Jesus has come—he is no longer dead and he has dealt with our problem of sin. We are witnesses to his saving power.
We have the hope the world is desperate for. If you don’t know this hope and would like to, let us know. If you do know— who can you share it with today?
