Proverb 8
Daily Devotional from Proverb 8—
Verse 17
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.
The narrator of this proverb is “Wisdom”. It is spoken by Wisdom, to us. If we re-write this verse a little more clearly, we get: “Wisdom loves those who love Wisdom. Those who seek Wisdom diligently will find Wisdom.” Isn’t that an amazing thought? Wisdom loves those who love Wisdom. How? It says that Wisdom bestows “riches and honor…enduring wealth and righteousness.” Riches that cannot be destroyed or stolen – treasure in Heaven! And whoever finds Wisdom finds life and favor from the Lord.
I want that life. I want that treasure. I want that favor. So, I am not going to look to the world for Wisdom. It cannot be found there. The world only has lies to offer – knowledge that seems like Wisdom, but only leads down the wrong path. Let’s keep our focus on seeking God’s Wisdom, which, in a word, is Jesus: The Word.
