Acts 15
Daily Devotional from Acts 15—
Verse 11
But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.
In the Jerusalem Council, the early Church leaders made an important decision that was guided by the Holy Spirit: Gentiles (non-Jews) did not have to be circumcised according to the Law of Moses. This was huge for the Church, and for new believers. It was the decision to uphold the truth that Jesus saves us through grace alone—not our works.
There isn’t anything extra that you have to do to receive the gift of salvation that Jesus has given to us. You simply have to receive it by declaring your faith in Jesus—every single day. We couldn’t accomplish salvation by our own works, and that’s the whole reason Jesus came, died, and rose again for us!
So, if you’ve been feeling guilty because you’re “not doing enough” to be able to receive salvation, rejoice like the Gentiles did in this passage—your salvation is a freely given gift of grace from Jesus!
