Acts 24
Daily Devotional from Acts 24--
Verse 16
So I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward both God and man.
This is interesting what Paul is saying here. Keeping a good conscience toward God and man is the best thing you can do, but to keep it up, you must mold your will to God’s and it’s painful. Following God is not always easy; we often want something different and we need to be humble enough to submit to God’s will.
Following God is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done but I have become accustomed to a new type of pain and that’s discipline. God’s discipline in the moment is painful, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness (Hebrews 12:11). So embrace the pains and keep in good conscience with God and your fellow man and it will not be without some reward.
