Proverb 14
Daily Devotional from Proverbs 14--
Verse 4
Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.
I’ve mucked out stalls before. It stinks. It’s hard work. But can I tell you, the fresh butter you make from the cream you skimmed off the milk that you got from the cow – is like a bit of heaven in your mouth.
There are often aspects of life we’d rather not deal with. There are messes that have to be cleaned up. Sometimes it’s physical, like unpaid bills, or an overgrown yard. Sometimes it’s relational, like people you butt heads with or conversations you don’t want to have. There are messes! And they do have to be dealt with.
But if there were no dirty dishes, it would mean there was no food. No house to clean would mean no place to call home. No relational tension would mean no real relationships. Let’s focus on the good things in life, even as we are dealing with the messes that come of them!
