Romans 15
Daily Devotional from Romans 15--
Verses 1-2
We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
We all know people who drive us crazy with the choices they make. Often these people can be other believers, people who are part of our community. This is inevitable when living in community, something we will never escape.
Because of this, it is important to offer GRACE when someone fails. This is what marks believers from the world. Instead of offering judgment and praise for “they got what was coming to them”—we offer grace and mercy. This is what Jesus did for us and we do it for others.
James 2:13b says “Mercy triumphs over judgment.”
So, bear with (and give grace to) the failings of the weak among us. Seek the good of your neighbors before the good of yourself. This is what it is to be a follower of Jesus.
