1 Corinthians 3
Daily Devotional from 1 Corinthians 3--
Verses 1-2
But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready...
Puppies are so cute! We sometimes wish they could stay the same (without the chewing and “accidents”) and never grow up. But we can’t stop time and they eventually mature.
Human babies are cute too. But they, like puppies, also grow up. In fact, if they are delayed in going though expected stages of maturity, such as crawling and then walking, we would think something was wrong.
This was the problem with the Corinthian church. They were Christians long enough to be expected to digest spiritual meat. Instead, they were still being fed spiritual milk. They were not maturing spiritually.
For anything to grow, it must stay attached to a source of nourishment. For Christians to mature, we must stay attached to the Vine (John 15:5). Read your Bible, pray, overcome evil with good, and depend on God to help.
