Exodus 16-18
Daily Devotional from Exodus 16--
Verse 8
And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him—what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”
Isn’t it easy to grumble? To be unsatisfied with the circumstances is understandable but if we grumble who are we grumbling against?
Not that you can never complain, but for example, your co-worker irritates you so you complain about how horrible they are, but who made them? Did God make a mistake? Wouldn’t it be better to pray for them? To bring them to the Lord in supplications with compassion and hope?
Times are hard but what is God trying to teach us through this? Let’s learn how to be thankful for what God has already given us. The Israelites just witnessed insane miracles and then they began to grumble about food -- really? Our God is good to feed us and clothe us so let’s trust Him and His goodness. Though it’s hard to understand, His ways are higher than ours.
