Exodus 19-21
Daily Devotional from Exodus 20--
Verse 3
You shall have no other gods before me.
In Exodus 19-21, we see a stunning display of God’s power and His outline for morality for the people of Israel. These are the first laws given to them to follow, and they come down to two things: love God and love your neighbor (Mark 12:29-31).
This is the struggle of the human condition. It’s hard for us to love God above all else, and it’s hard to love other people more than ourselves. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit lives within us, giving us the conviction we need to do the right thing.
Today, let's ask ourselves this: “Is there something I’m putting above God?” or, “Is there an area I’m not loving my neighbor well?” And then take steps with the Holy Spirit to put God first and love our neighbor well.
